You'd never know these bar cookies get their crunch from saltine crackers!

35 to 40 Saltine Crackers 35 to 40
3/4 cup Granulated sugar 175 mL
1 cup Butter 250 mL
1 pkg. (12 oz) Semi-sweet Chocolate chips 1 pkg. (345 g)

Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].

Place crackers on foil-lined large cookie sheet.

Melt butter and sugar in saucepan over medium-high heat. Heat to boiling; boil until sugar is completely dissolved. Spread over crackers.

Bake for 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips; let stand for 3 to 5 minutes then, using the back of a spoon, spread melted chocolate over baked layer.

Option Sprinkle on top of chocolate layer a crushed snicker or butterfingers candy bar. Cool for about 8 hours and break or slice into pieces.
