POLPETTINE (Small meatballs)

Hot meatballs accompanied with a cold curry tomato sauce. These are delicious and always a hit for the holidays. Serve with cocktail picks.
MEATBALLS
1 lb. Medium Ground Beef 450 g
1 tsp Salt 5 mL
1/4 tsp Pepper 1 mL
1/4 cup Minced onion 50 mL
1 large Garlic clove 1 large
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 10 mL
1 Egg 1
1 tbsp each Oil & butter 15 mL each

 

SAUCE
1-1/2 tsp Butter 7 mL
2 tbsp Finely chopped onion 30 mL
1/2 tsp Curry powder 2 mL
1/2 cup Ketchup 125 mL
1/4 cup Tomato juice 50 mL
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 5 mL
1/8 tsp Tarragon .5 mL
1/8 tsp Pepper .5 mL
2 tbsp Freshly grated Parmesan cheese 30 mL

Mix all  meatball ingredients together, form bite-size meat balls and fry in oil and butter. Be sure to fry them at last minute to serve them piping hot with the curry sauce very cold.

Sauce
Heat butter and add onion and curry and cook on low heat until the onion is transparent. Add other ingredients, cover & simmer for 20 minutes. Refrigerate for 4 hours and serve very cold with meat balls very hot.
